- The Toowong Cemetery officially opened in 1871 and features a number of cultural & historical areas and memorials. Brisbane City Council have section maps and self-guided walks.
- Toowong is believed to be named after the call of a bird, possibly a species of cuckoo.
- 1875 saw the railway extended to Indooroopilly which included the station at Toowong.
- The Regatta Hotel, established in 1874, is also known as The Grand Lady of the Brisbane river and was entered into the Queensland Heritage Register in 1992. Naming of the Regatta Hotel came from the rowing regattas held on the river, recorded as early as the mid 1840's.
- BBC – Brisbane Boys College moved into Toowong (from Clayfield) in 1918 which Andrew attended during the 1980’s.
